Christmas Tree Meringues
You need:
4 egg whites at room temp
1 teaspoon of cream of tartar
1 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Gel (green) food coloring
Ready to start making yummy meringues?? It’s crucial to have your ingredients measured out, baking sheets ready, and oven preheated
1. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees
2. Beat the egg whites in a mixer at medium speed until frothy
3. Beat in the cream of tartar until soft peaks form on medium speed
4. Beat in the sugar one tablespoon at a time until the sugar dissolves and stiff peaks form on medium high speed
5. Beat in the desired amount of food coloring
6. Put the meringue in a piping bag (with a star tip) or a ziploc bag with a small corner cut off works too. Pipe the meringue into the shape of small christmas trees
7. I piped small trees and filled four baking sheets. Make sure you bake all of the meringues at 225 degrees for 45 minutes. DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN! let the meringues sit and cool in the oven for at least an hour, still without opening the oven.
8. Store in a sealed bag to keep them fresh
